The peripheral immune activity markers C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, IL-10, IL-18, transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1, tumor neurosis factor (TNF)-α, monocyte chemoattractant protein 1 (MCP-1), eotaxin-1, and sIL-2R were reported associated with mood disorders, schizophrenia (SZ) and ASD in meta-analyses [48,49,50] suggesting immune activation in the pathophysiology of these disorders [51,52,53].
