The Bb M-16V strain alone had digestive anti-inflammatory properties, restored intestinal tight junctions, conferred protection against ulcerative-necrotizing enterocolitis in premature babies, and had anti-allergic properties (asthma, food allergies, and respiratory allergies), as demonstrated in vitro and in vivo in animals (decrease in specific IgE, modulation of the protolerogenic Th1–pro-allergic Th2 balance) [82].
