Wen et al. reported that STING signaling is important in mediating lipotoxicity-induced endothelial inflammation and injury, that IRE1-XBP1 signaling enhances STING signaling, that hyperlipidemia induces a pro-inflammatory response in retinal endothelial cells by activating expression of the STING pathway and signaling activation of IRE1-XBP1, and that other studies have confirmed STING’s pro-inflammatory function. This evidence concerns the gene ERN1 and hyperlipidemia.
