TNF and Alzheimer disease: An ethanolic extract of KP reduced gene and protein expression of inflammatory markers including interleukin-1β (IL-1β), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated macrophages through inhibition of the nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) translocation [14], while 5,7,4′-trimethoxyflavone (TMF) and 5,7-dimethoxyflavone (DMF) isolated from KP exhibited potential enzyme inhibitory activities against acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE), which are drug targets for AD treatment as mentioned above [19].
