Additional common markers for invasiveness are: FRA1—overexpressed in breast and lung cancers and is associated with biological functions such as tumor proliferation, differentiation, invasion and apoptosis [116] (the marker was studied and characterized in our laboratory); ZEB1—present in both lung and breast cancers and is a master regulator of the EMT program and also associated with tumor invasiveness and metastasis [117]; DNA-PK, CD44, CD166—shown by us and others to be active contributors for metastasis. The gene discussed is FOSL1; the disease is neoplasm.
