In contrast to the repeatedly detected increased levels of gephyrin and γ2 subtype of GABAAR in the hippocampus of 3-month-old APP/PS1 mice in comparison to WTs, and a further increase after treatment with artemisinin [31,32,56,57], we could not detect any significant differences in the region-specific protein levels of GlyRα2 and GlyRα3 between different experimental groups, suggesting different regulatory mechanisms for GABAergic and glycinergic inhibition in early stage AD.
