While these cell-type-specific effects complicate our understanding of PKC-δ signaling, the participation of PKC-δ in many signaling cascades gives rise to the attractiveness of PKC-δ modulators as drug targets for a wide range of applications, including HIV latency reversal [14,16,17], anti-cancer therapies [18,19,20,21] and Alzheimer’s treatments [22,23], many of which are currently in clinical trials [24,25].
