GLP1R and type 2 diabetes mellitus: Among the antidiabetic drugs (ADD) currently available on the US market, two relatively novel agents, sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) and glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP1a), are associated with significant reductions in blood glucose levels and have been found particularly effective in reducing the risk of CVD in individuals with type 2 diabetes (T2D) [3].
