When colon cancer cells were treated with PCE in the presence of IL-6, PCE at 100 and 200 μg/mL significantly inhibited the growth of both HCT-116 (about 12% (p < 0.05) and 25% (p < 0.01), respectively), and HT-29 (about 12% (p < 0.05) and 24% (p < 0.01), respectively), after 48 h, when compared to the positive control groups (Figure 6C,D). This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and malignant colon neoplasm.
