CYP2B6 and Thrombocytopenia: Our study reinforces that rs4802101 TC increases the activity of CYP2B6 and favors the transformation of cyclophosphamide into 4-hydroxy-cyclophosphamide, which is converted to the phosphorous mustard (antineoplastic metabolite) and acrolein, the metabolite that is especially toxic for hematopoietic tissue and urinary apparatus, responsible for very common hemorrhagic cystitis, and in our hands showing an increased risk of thrombocytopenia (OR 1.70).
