IGHE and asthma: Based on these criteria, a diagnosis of ABPA can be made in the presence of a predisposing condition (asthma, cystic fibrosis, or others), when both the obligatory criteria (serum A. fumigatus-specific IgE levels > 0.35 kUA/L or positive type I Aspergillus skin test; and, serum total IgE levels > 1000 IU/mL) are met along with at least two of the three additional criteria (presence of precipitating or IgG antibodies against A. fumigatus in serum, thoracic imaging findings consistent with ABPA, and peripheral blood eosinophil count ≥ 500 cells/μL).
