Human breast cancer (HBC) is classified into four main subtypes according to the expression of estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), and epidermal growth factor receptor ERBB2, as follows: (i) Luminal A tumors (ER+ and/or PR+, ERBB2-); (ii) Luminal B tumors (ER+ and/or PR+, ERBB2+); (iii) ERBB2-overexpressing tumors (ER-, PR-, ERBB2+); and (iv) triple-negative (ER-, PR-, ERBB2-) breast cancer (TNBC) [4]. The gene discussed is EGFR; the disease is breast carcinoma.
