We demonstrate for the first time that methyl gallate isolated and identified in L. indica can enhance the sensitivity of human ovarian cancer cells to NK cell-mediated cytotoxicity (Figs. 2 and 4), and this increased cytolysis was likely due to the associated elevated expression of various stress ligands for NK cell receptors (i.e. DNAM-1 and NKG2D) on these cancer cells (Fig. 3B, Supplementary Fig. 2B).
