To focus on the main pathway responsible for inducing IFN expression in response to ZIKV infection (RIG-I/MAVS) [17,24] we co-transfected HeLa cells with a plasmid expressing constitutively active RIG-I (RIG-I-N [44]) and either vectors expressing ZIKV-NS1/NS4A/NS2B-3/NS5-FLAG or an empty vector control (see S7 Fig for protein expression levels). This evidence concerns the gene RIGI and Zika virus infectious disease.
