In this context, the main contribution of our study was the demonstration that i) levels of soluble VEC were decreased, and of soluble Tie2 were increased in COVID-19, and ii) that EB disruption induced by serum from patients with COVID-19 is associated with clinical and laboratory outcomes, and correlated with levels of two key regulators of angiogenesis and EB integrity, Ang-2 and VEGF-A. This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and COVID-19.
