Stably edited AZIN1 acts as an analog of ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) to prevent the degradation of ODC and cyclin D1, resulting in increased cell proliferation, metastasis potential and tumor initiation in colorectal cancer (15), esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (16), and hepatocellular carcinoma (17). This evidence concerns the gene ODC1 and colorectal cancer.
