In C57Bl/6 mice fed a HFD to induce DIO, we found that overexpressing BDNF led to prevention of weight gain and weight loss; prevention of abdominal obesity; a decrease in serum leptin, insulin, cholesterol, triglycerides, IGF-1, and glucose and an increase in adiponectin; improved insulin sensitivity and glucose tolerance; prevention of liver steatosis; and altered expression of metabolism related genes in the hypothalamus and adipose tissue [7, 39]. The gene discussed is BDNF; the disease is Abdominal obesity.
