At 5-years follow-up, 13 patients (28.9%) still had DM and four (8.9%) were newly diagnosed with DM, requiring medical treatment with metformin monotherapy in 11 (64.7%), insulin in a basal-bolus schedule in two (11.8%), and a combination of metformin and GLP-1 agonists in one (5.9%), or metformin and DPP-IV inhibitors in one (5.9%) or triple therapy insulin, metformin and DPP-IV inhibitors in two (11.8%).
