Inhibition of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway, which is known to negatively regulate autophagy formation, appeared to promote radioresistance by inducing autophagy activity [25]; conversely, activation of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway abrogated radioresistance by suppressing autophagy formation in nasopharyngeal carcinoma [26].
