SMARCB1 and neoplasm: In addition to the above subunits that are often mutated, one subunit mutation found in a subunit of the SWI/SNF complex is a germline mutation, which predisposes individuals to cancer, namely the core subunit INI1, whose mutations have been detected in rhabdomyosarcoma, an aggressive childhood cancer characterized by tumours in sites such as the kidney and soft tissues,54 and in addition, its double allele inactivation causes familial nerve sheath tumour disease and meningioma,55, 56 and the loss of INI1 protein has been found to cause epithelioid sarcoma.57
