Following mutations in Braf V600 and Nras Q61, Rac1 P29 is the third most commonly mutated protooncogene in cutaneous melanomas and with up to 9% of sun-exposed melanomas carrying this mutation the most common cancer-associated recurrent missense mutation among the family of small Rho GTPases (7, 8). The gene discussed is BRAF; the disease is melanoma.
