RAB1A and neoplasm: Although the 8th edition AJCC staging was found to be applicable in the resected patient following neoadjuvant therapy, Chatterjee et al. found no difference in stratifying patients with tumor size > 1 cm (i.e., no difference between ypT1c, ypT2, or ypT3) in a series of 398 resected patients and suggested using 1 cm as a cutoff for ypT2, and the majority of ypT3 cases (according to the 7th AJCC edition) were down-staged to either ypT1 or ypT2 using the tumor size in the 8th AJCC [18].
