EPO and pure red-cell aplasia: Further studies showed that between 1998 and 2003, the exposure-adjusted incidence rates of PRCA in patients with chronic kidney disease were 0.2 – 4.5 per 10,000 patient-years for epoetin-α (Eprex), 0.14 – 0.2 per 10,000 patient-years for epoetin-β (Neorecormon; Roche Registration GmbH, Grenzach-Wyhlen, Germany), and 0.06 – 0.2 per 10,000 patient-years for epoetin-α (Epogen; Amgen, Thousand Oaks, CA, USA or Procrit; Janssen Products, LP, South Raritan, NJ, USA) [3, 4, 5, 6]; and the increased risk of epoetin-associated PRCA was found to be related to SC administration [4].
