Fatty liver has been considered a risk factor for liver fibrosis/cirrhosis development [25], eighteen-week rapamycin treatment in mice did not increase the expression of liver fibrosis markers [26] (Adamts1 and TGF-β1) (Fig 4G), suggesting that rapamycin-induced fatty livers may not be a risk factor for the development of liver cirrhosis. This evidence concerns the gene TGFB1 and Hepatic fibrosis.
