To identify stem-like phenotypes in our tumor nuclei population, we investigated the expression levels of classically used markers of cancer stem cells (ITGA6, CD44, PROM1, NES, MSI1, MYC, NANOG, SOX1, SOX2, POU5F1, VIM, SDC1, SDC2, GPC1, GPC2), as well as an enrichment score for stemness from Tirosh et al29,30. The gene discussed is SOX2; the disease is cancer.
