HDAC11 and familial hypercholesterolemia: Further study indicated that loss of HDAC6 changes the gut microbiota composition, with increased Bacteroides and Parabacteroides and decreased S24-7 family and Lactobacillus; these changes may aggravate obesity by inhibiting the capacity of regulatory T cells (Tregs).195 HDAC11 is also involved in obesity and obesity-related disease.196 HDAC11 knockdown effectively alleviates obesity-related disease by restraining hypercholesterolemia, liver steatosis, and damage, and by increasing insulin sensitivity and glucose tolerance.
