Several studies have shown that classical pleotropic proinflammatory cytokines such as TNFα and IFNγ, as well as more specifically employed cytokines such as GM-CSF and IL-17A, are elevated in serum or cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of Persons with MS (PwMS, (Schofield et al. 2016; Carrieri et al. 2008; Maimone et al. 1991). The gene discussed is TNF; the disease is myeloid sarcoma.
