An analysis by Kim and colleagues (25) showed that PD-L1–positive tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes were strongly associated with a favorable prognosis in patients with surgically resected HNSCC and that high PD-L1 expression on ICs, but not TCs, was an independent favorable prognostic factor for recurrence-free survival and OS. This evidence concerns the gene CD274 and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
