NR3C2 and cardiac hypertrophy: Excessive activation of MR promotes reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, mediates the inflammatory and fibrogenic processes, and ultimately leads to myocardial hypertrophy and ventricular remodeling (10), as well as the renal damage, glomerular hypertrophy, glomerulosclerosis, and vascular damage such as vascular endothelial dysfunction and vascular smooth muscle cells proliferation (5).
