As generalized scleroderma has been linked to other genes beside the HLA loci that are also involved in pathogenesis of scleroderma like transforming growth factor-ß (TGF-ß) and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), it is likely that these genes could be also linked to morphea but further investigations are still needed (4). This evidence concerns the gene CCL2 and scleroderma.
