PIEZO2 and Gait ataxia: The recent discovery that PIEZO2 deficiency in humans results in an unsteady gait and increased stride-to-stride variability and step length23,27, together with our finding that Ube3am–/p+ DRG neurons display decreased mechanocurrents and -excitability, suggests that a decrease in PIEZO2 function could contribute to the gait ataxia experienced in AS.
