In the context of experimental CNS autoimmunity both physical interactions [34, 37, 42] as well as the secretion of anti-inflammatory cytokines e.g. interleukin (IL)-10 have been shown to be relevant for disease regulation [2, 11, 30, 35, 39] and IL-10-expressing plasma cells have been found in CNS lesions of patients with MS [25, 32] and mice with experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) [28]. This evidence concerns the gene IL10 and Autoimmunity.
