PNPLA3 and hepatocellular carcinoma: They discovered four significant SNPs: the novel variant rs708113 in the WNT3A-WNT9A (Wnt family member 3A-Wnt family member 9A) gene and three SNPs located in genes known to be associated with alcohol-related liver disease, cirrhosis, or HCC, namely the PNPLA3, TM6SF2 (transmembrane 6 superfamily member two), and HSD17B13 (hydroxysteroid 17-beta dehydrogenase 13) genes.
