GLUL and hepatocellular carcinoma: In regards to familial HCC among HBV carriers, Lin et al. [62] compared patients with HBV-related HCC who had first-degree relatives with HCC to controls with chronic HBV infection and identified 51 SNPs clustered in the GLUL (glutamate-ammonia ligase) and TEDDM1 (transmembrane epididymal protein one) genes that were significantly associated with familial HBV-related HCC.
