A collagen-based injectable formulation was found to be a potential drug in the treatment of symptomatic COVID-19 patients for its immunomodulatory properties, in relation to IL-1β, IL-8, TNF-α, TNF-β1, IL-17, cyclooxygenase 1 (Cox-1), endothelial leucocyte adhesion molecule 1 (ELAM-1), vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 (VCAM-1), intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1) downregulation, tissues fibrosis reduction, and IL-10 and T cells upregulation. This evidence concerns the gene ICAM1 and COVID-19.
