CD14 and inflammatory response: The INTREPID study compared the effects of pitavastatin (4 mg daily) versus pravastatin (40 mg daily) on markers of immune activation and arterial inflammation in PLHIV and revealed greater reduction in soluble CD14, oxidized LDL, and lipoprotein-associated phospholipase 2, which are markers of immune activation and arterial inflammation, in the pitavastatin arm at week 52 [19].
