Our findings of decreased CTGF expression and increased fibroblast proliferation induced by TG2 silencing are consistent with the results of Zhen et al. [60] who showed that decreased expression of CTGF promoted cell cycle progression and proliferation through FAK/PI3K/AKT, epithelial-mesenchymal transition and MMP pathways in nasopharyngeal carcinoma. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
