Glucose-6-phosphatase catalytic subunit 2 (G6PC2) is a negative inhibitor of GSIS and has been found to have reduced levels in T2D samples compared to non-diabetic islets, and increased expression in SC-islets with improved function, implicating this gene in maturation (Pound et al., 2013; Barsby and Otonkoski, 2022). This evidence concerns the gene G6PC2 and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
