Because TAM receptors and VEGFR2 contribute to an immunosuppressive TME (a suggested mechanism of CPI resistance),13 targeting these receptors may have implications on cancer immunotherapy.19,21 Sitravatinib, a TKI targeting TAM receptors and VEGFR2, in combination with nivolumab, a PD-1 inhibitor, may, therefore, overcome CPI resistance and an immunosuppressive TME.17 In this phase 2 study, although the primary end point of ORR was not met, sitravatinib with nivolumab exhibited durable responses and an encouraging median OS of 13.6 months in patients with NSQ NSCLC with PCB from CPI. The gene discussed is PDCD1; the disease is cancer.
