To support this data, a study conducted by Zhou et al., demonstrated that EVs derived from hUCMSCs expressed PINK1 protein and treatment with them improved mitochondrial homeostasis against sepsis-induced mitochondrial dysfunction in cardiomyocytes and also, Gu et al. reported that exosomes isolated from hUCMSCs reduced the severity of viral myocarditis by inhibiting apoptosis in cardiomyocytes via the AMPK/mTOR signaling pathway [11,74]. The gene discussed is PINK1; the disease is viral myocarditis.
