Addressing this topic, Bange et al. revealed (1) a similar distribution of CD8+ T cell subsets in subjects with and without cancer, (2) an increased expression of the activation markers CD38 and HLA-DR on CD8+ T cells, and (3) a depletion of CD4+ T cells and B cells in patients with hematologic cancer (Figure 1B) [29]. The gene discussed is CD4; the disease is cancer.
