Interestingly, we found that Aβ and tau protein were significantly higher in blood samples in the groups with mild cognitive impairment and dementia compared to the adult group, indicating that tau protein and Aβ could be used as potential biomarkers of dementia, as there was a significant inverse correlation between LPS, Aβ, and tau protein with neurological evaluation (Figure 7A).
