In a case–control study of Asian Indian and European T2D patients to determine whether DNA methylation is associated with the incidence of T2D, it was shown that methylation markers in seven genetic regions (TXNIP, PROC, C7orF29, SREBF1, PHOSPHO1, COCS3, and ABCG1) were associated with a higher incidence of T2D and four times higher risk of presenting the pathology in cases versus controls [24]. Here, ZBED10P is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
