Chen et al. [79] studied the effect of hesperetin on diabetic Sprague–Dawley rats and found that this compound ameliorated the progression of DN via upregulating Glo-1, inhibiting the AGE/RAGE axis and inflammation, elevating Nrf2 and p-Nrf2 levels, and upregulating γ-glutamylcysteine synthetase. This evidence concerns the gene NFE2L2 and liver dysplastic nodule.
