CYP19A1 and benign prostatic hyperplasia: The rational use of plant extracts in LUTS/BPH relies, at least in vitro, on (i) anti-inflammatory, anti-androgenic and estrogenic effects; (ii) inhibition of lipoxygenase, aromatase, growth factor-stimulated proliferation of prostatic cells, α1-adrenoceptor, 5α-reductase, and vanilloid receptors; (iii) reduction of sexual hormone binding globulin; (iv) neutralization of free radicals [9,17,18,19].
