Significantly higher (p < 0.05—Mann–Whitney test) chitotriosidase activity was found in the group with acute appendicitis (99.7 ± 14.4 nmol/mL/h), compared to those that had normal appendixes (86.2 ± 12.3 nmol/mL/h), according to the pathology report. Here, CHIT1 is linked to appendicitis.
