Cushing’s disease (CD) is caused by prolonged supraphysiological level of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) from pituitary adenoma or hyperplasia, resulting in hypersecretion of cortisol from adrenal glands, which is related to hypertension, diabetes mellitus, centripetal obesity, osteoporosis, mood disorders, and even shortened life span [1]. The gene discussed is POMC; the disease is pituitary gland adenoma.
