Plasma PAI-1 was significantly higher in the NDO and T2DM groups (controls: 3.63 (1.99–7.29) ng/mL vs. NDO: 7.37 (4.94–10.42) ng/mL vs. T2DM: 6.62 (4.6–10.28) ng/mL; Kruskal-Wallis H test: p < 0.001) (Figure 3c) and a significant positive correlation can be seen between plasma PAI-1 and afamin in overall subjects (r = 0.21; p = 0.002). Here, SERPINE1 is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
