In human prostate cancer cell lines (e.g., LNCaP and PC3), higher levels of CB1 and CB2 receptor expressions are detected in comparison with non-cancerous prostate cells [25], plus elevated levels for the enzymes responsible for endocannabinoid degradation, suggesting a potential role of the endocannabinoid system in prostate cell proliferation [26]. This evidence concerns the gene CNR1 and prostate cancer.
