A series of 25 surgical lung biopsies performed for other pathologies (16 primary lung cancers, 3 metastatic tumors, 3 ILD with usual interstitial pneumonia pattern, and 2 mycetomas) showed more than three MMNs, and, analyzed immunohistochemically, demonstrated the same profile of MMNs disclosed in DPM: all sporadic MMNs displayed expression of EMA, CD56, and progesterone receptor with negativity for the other tested markers. Here, MUC1 is linked to metastatic neoplasm.
