We recently confirmed this phenomenon in breast cancer and showed that the presence of CD169+ macrophages in breast cancer lymph node metastasis (LNM) was associated with a better prognosis, while surprisingly the presence of CD169+ tumor-associated macrophages (CD169+ TAMs) in the primary tumor (PT) was not [27]. Here, SIGLEC1 is linked to metastatic malignant neoplasm in the lymph nodes.
